Drone Forensics: How to extract and examine data from drones
05 Mar 2019
Drones have become a major concern for law enforcement agencies around the globe. They have been used to disrupt air travel, transport contraband into prisons, and to launch attacks. In December, drone sightings forced the closure of Gatwick Airport for several days – causing travel misery for thousands and revenue loss in the millions, shortly after, Heathrow suffered a partial closure due to the same type of attack. These attacks prompted the Met Police Commissioner to say that security officials must “up their game” to address the threat. This presentation will present the latest software tools and capabilities for extracting and examining data from a recovered drone, to investigate the “who, what, where, when and how” of the drone’s operation, thus allowing officials to “up their game” when it comes to investigations. Presenter Paul Baxter is with MSAB, makers of XRY Drone, a market-leading drone forensic tool.
