Home Office
The Home Office is supporting Forensics Europe Expo 2026 through the participation of the Director of Forensic Sciences, Amanda-Jane Balfour, alongside representation from the Forensic Information Databases Service (FINDS) and the Science, Innovation and Technology (SIT) function. Together, these teams play a key role in shaping the development, governance and application of forensic science across policing and the wider Criminal Justice System.
FINDS manages critical national forensic databases, including the National DNA Database (NDNAD), IDENT1 fingerprint database and the National Footwear Database, helping ensure the integrity, accuracy and reliability of forensic information used in investigations.
SIT leads the development and application of science and technology to support policing, forensics and public safety priorities, providing scientific oversight, assurance and innovation across forensic science, biometrics and associated data systems.
