Patricia (Trish) Larrigan Operational Forensic Manager, Metropolitan Police Service.

1984 - Joined the Fingerprint Bureau at New Scotland Yard as a trainee Fingerprint Officer.  My career has seen me achieve Fingerprint Expert status, be trained in crime scene examination, serve 5 years with Counter Terrorism and then become a Crime Scene Manager (now OFM) when the role was civilianised.  I was one of the first CSMs when the role was officially created in 2001 and the role has been developed by the people doing it – there was no playbook!

In the 25 years since becoming and OFM, I have taken part in the investigation into hundreds of Homicides, Unexpected Deaths and many other serious crime incidents.

Assignments of Note: -

2005 – OFM support to the Resilience Mortuary dealing with the post-mortem examinations of the fatalities from the July 7th London bombings. 

2008 - Published in the Journal of Forensic Identification as a result of innovative work that was “live trialled” at an arson-damaged homicide scene in 2005 -  Using Liquid Latex to Remove Soot to Facilitate Fingerprint and Bloodstain Examinations: A Case Study Author(s): Larkin, T. 2015 – Forensic Manager for Op Lilford (Stephen Port).

I am now partially retired and I am no longer a fully operational OFM. My role now is to deliver specialist forensic awareness training to a range of internal courses ranging from new Crime Scene Examiners, Exhibits Officers, Det Sergeants, Det Inspectors and bespoke training to local CID units.
