Experience & expertise

Gp Capt Clarkson qualified as a dentist in June 2003 after studying at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry. On graduation she followed her interest of joining the Royal Air Force as a direct entrant Dental Officer in August 2003. Following graduation from RAFC Cranwell, Flt Lt Clarkson completed her Foundation Dental Training at RAF Wittering 2003 and has worked ever since as a serving General Dental Practitioner in the RAF, including operational tours in Iraq on Op Telic 10 and the Falkland Islands.  She is currently serving as Principal Dental Officer East Region, based at RAF Cranwell.


Clarkson followed her interest in Forensic Odontology and following on from her undergraduate elective in Toronto, Canada in 2002, completed a 3-year part-time MSc at the University of Glamorgan, Wales, graduating with distinction in 2011.  She became Section Lead of the Defence Dental Identification Team in 2014.
Forensic Disaster Victim Identifications include Grenfell Tower, Leicester Shop Fire and the Leicester Helicopter Crash at King Power Football Stadium.
Clarkson is Military Liaison on the Committee of the British Association of Forensic Odontologists (BAFO), is a Council Member of the Forensic and Legal Section for the Royal Society of Medicine and is a member of the UK DVI Experts Group.
