Director of Forensic Services , Metropolitan Police Service
Alan Tribe is the Director of Forensics for the Metropolitan Police Service, which is the largest forensic science provider in the UK and one of the largest and longest established forensic providers in the world.  In addition to these responsibilities he leads on innovation, research and development for forensics in policing across England and Wales, and is a member of the NPCC Forensic Portfolio Board, the Board of the Association of Forensic Science Providers and one of the UK’s Permanent Representatives within the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes. In addition to policing responsibilities within the Met’s Chief Officer Group, he represents London on the National Science and Innovation Board for Policing. Prior to becoming Director in 2024 Alan spent over 30 years in forensic science as a front line operational practitioner and manager across multiple forensic science disciplines, leading work including the establishment of quality standards in police forensics, as well as notable operational achievements in homicide and counter terrorism investigations in London and overseas.
