NABIS: A Ballistic Focal Point for the UK

06 Mar 2019

The UK’s National Ballistics Intelligence Service went live in September 2008. Over the last ten years it has pioneered a system of combining the information generated by forensic science with other forms of intelligence, to develop a comprehensive picture of all aspects of gun crime in the UK. This has enabled police forces and other agencies to proactively tackle the use and supply of firearms. The methodologies developed are seen as best practice and are being copied by other agencies throughout Europe and other jurisdictions.
